The arrival experience was something special and immediately gave a strong sense of place. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and looked out over a beautiful valley. We chose Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary as the starting point of our Bhutan journey, and it set the right tone for the rest of the trip. The staff were attentive and warm; they organised our transfer, guided us through the welcome ritual and made sure we settled in easily. From the hotel, visiting nearby monasteries was simple and didn’t require switching hotels. It was the ideal base to begin our travels through Bhutan.

Ik heb het geluk gehad om twee keer te mogen verblijven in Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, en deze tweede keer was nog beter dan de eerste. Het eten was al voortreffelijk, maar deze keer was het naast lekker en voedzaam ook erg creatief. De traditional medicine dokters bieden praktische adviezen en interessante informatie over kruiden en planten die kunnen helpen voor veelvoorkomende problemen. Het personeel, werkelijk al het personeel, tonen de Bhutaanse vriendelijkheid, warmte en vrijgevigheid. Uit ervaring weet ik dat in sommige luxe hotels het personeel teveel probeert en ongemakkelijk wordt, maar zeker niet hier. Deze gastvrijheid komt van nature. Dit draagt ook bij aan de ontspanning en rust aan deze plek, geweldige zorg en aandacht vanuit een vriendelijk oogpunt.

From the expansive and very comfortable rooms, to an impressive indoor pool and wellness services, to extremely personable services and top notch tour of the surrounding land and Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary ends up being among the top of the top of experiences.

Het enige wat ik kan zeggen is dat ik heel graag zou wonen in deze bijzondere Spirit Sanctuary. De kalmte en schoonheid van het hotel, spa en restaurant blijven voor altijd in mijn geheugen gegrift. Het eten was fantastisch, en zo prachtig gepresenteerd door het meest vriendelijke personeel. De kamers zijn ruim, comfortabel en goed ingericht. De traditionele dokters in de spa zijn fantastisch en zo behulpzaam. De spa behandelingen waren fantastisch, vooral de Hot Stone Bath! 

Zo fantastisch.... geen woorden voor! 

Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary takes wellbeing seriously. From the moment my friends and I arrived — greeted at the door by almost the entire team — to the moment we left, we felt genuinely looked after. The property sits high on a hillside in Paro, which is my favourite area to visit in Bhutan. The architecture is understated and elegant, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with solid beds and a quiet seating area. On arrival, we met one of the resident healers, who puts together a treatment plan tailored to whatever you need support with, whether that’s stress, anxiety or sleep. The treatments are excellent: full-body massages, herbal baths, moxibustion and other traditional therapies. The food was another highlight. The chef works with local produce and creates dishes that are both beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. It was, without doubt, the best food we had in Bhutan.
